Five lessons preached at the El Dorado Springs Church of Christ, El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Sunday morning Bible class, Sunday worship, Sunday evening, and Monday and Tuesday nights.
A gospel meeting on the Christian walk: the fallen believer called to rise, the earthly city that was never going to satisfy, the wisdom that goes beyond what is allowed, the unity Christ prayed for, and the long patient work of raising children for the Lord. All references drawn from the King James Version.
Faithful children are the fruit of deliberate parenting, not chance. A lesson on the daily patterns that shape a child toward the Lord: the Scriptures taught at home, the home that lives what it teaches, and the long work of pointing a child to Christ.
Key texts: Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14-15
The church that stands together stands. The church that stands divided falls, and the world watches which it will be. A plea for unity on the Book, unity in the home, and unity in the congregation, with the Lord's own prayer for His people as the measure.
Key texts: John 17:20-23; Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 1:27; 1 Corinthians 1:10; Psalm 133
A whole generation has been trained to ask 'is it permitted' as if that were the highest Christian question. This lesson presses toward the mature standard: not what is allowed but what is wise, not what you can defend but what builds up. From the book of the same name.
Key texts: 1 Corinthians 6:12; 10:23-24; Romans 14:13-21; Philippians 4:8; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
Men have chased a city of gold in this world and died empty-handed every time. The believer has been told plainly that no such place exists on this side; the city with foundations is heavenly, and it is waiting. Preached in the town that bears the name of the legend.
Key texts: Hebrews 11:13-16; 1 John 2:15-17; Ecclesiastes 1:2-11; Colossians 3:1-4; 2 Peter 3:10-13
A fallen Christian is not a finished Christian. Scripture tells the believer who stumbles not to lie there, not to despair, not to quit, but to rise. The call to repent and arise is the mercy of a God who never meant the fall to be the final chapter.
Key texts: Micah 7:7-8; Proverbs 24:16; 1 John 1:8-10; Psalm 37:23-24; Luke 22:31-32
