Six lessons preached at the Waynoka Church of Christ, Waynoka, Oklahoma.
The whole week asks one question: how much of what we hear about Israel, the kingdom, the end, and heaven is in the Bible, and how much came from Darby, Scofield, and a stack of paperback novels? Each lesson takes one piece of that teaching, lays Scripture beside it, and lets the text answer. All references are drawn from the King James Version.
God chose Israel to bring the Christ into the world. When Christ came, the promise was kept, and the land promise was kept long before that, in words Scripture signs its own name to. Four witnesses testify the land was fully given: Joshua, Joshua's farewell, Solomon, and the remnant with Nehemiah.
Key texts: Genesis 12:1-3; Joshua 21:43-45; Joshua 23:14-16; 1 Kings 4:21; 8:56; Nehemiah 9:8; Galatians 3:16, 29; Hebrews 11:9-10
The kingdom was not postponed. The prophets dated it, the Lord placed it inside one lifetime, Acts 2 records its arrival, and Christ reigns from heaven now. Every chart depends on the kingdom not having come. If it has, the system has nowhere to stand.
Key texts: Daniel 2:44; 7:13-14; Mark 9:1; Matthew 16:18-19; Acts 2:30-36, 41, 47; Colossians 1:13; 1 Corinthians 15:24-26; John 18:36; 3:5
They are not all Israel which are of Israel. God's people today are those in Christ, Jew and Gentile alike, on one condition: faith that continues. One olive tree, one condition for every branch; one new man in Christ.
Key texts: Romans 2:28-29; 9:1-8, 27; 10:1-3, 13-17; 11:1-26; Galatians 3:26-29; 6:15-16; Ephesians 2:14-16; 1 Peter 2:9-10; Acts 15:16-17
One coming, one resurrection, one judgment, one eternity, on a day no man knows. The rapture, the tribulation, and the earthly millennium are built from verses lifted out of their settings. The false version breeds fear and delay; the true version sets people free to be ready.
Key texts: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 5:28-29; Matthew 24:3, 21, 34, 36, 44; Acts 2:16-17; 2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 1:1, 3; 20:1-10; 21:1; 1 Peter 1:4
A citizen of heaven prays for every ruler, preaches to every nation, keeps the Lord's money on the Lord's mission, guards his tongue, and refuses to be afraid. The next headline will test whether you are a citizen of heaven first.
Key texts: Philippians 3:20; 1 Peter 2:11; Hebrews 11:13; 1 Timothy 2:1-4; Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Matthew 5:44; Galatians 3:9, 29; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; Galatians 6:10; 2 John 9-11; 2 Timothy 1:7; Matthew 24:6; 1 Peter 3:15
Audio will be posted after the service.
The land was the shadow, heaven is the substance, and Christ is the way from the one to the other. The way in has not changed since three thousand asked what to do. Every error this week set in the dirt something God placed in heaven.
Key texts: Hebrews 11:9-10, 13, 16; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 2:37-41; 8:12, 36-38; 16:30-33; 22:16; Romans 10:10, 17; Galatians 3:27; Romans 6:4; Mark 16:16; John 14:1-3; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Revelation 21:3-6; 22:3-5, 17; 2 Timothy 4:7-8
